Our journey starts with the clearing of a plot of land. I watched beautiful mature trees being burned for development.
An idea took root, what if we could turn these beautiful trees into something useful for local artisans, crafters, hobbiest, and builders?
That's when we got to work! It’s been 3 years since we started the journey of milling our own lumber and it has been extremely rewarding. There is something special about taking a tree and converting it into a usable product.
One of the most important aspects of running our own mill is the ability to use these trees that have been cleared due to storm damage or real estate developments. These trees would have ended up in the landfill or burned but Board & Log Co gives them a second life.
